Sustainability
Welcome to Sewn by Sadie Bee, where sustainability meets style!
I believe in sewing sustainably and making a positive impact on the planet. That's why I use deadstock fabrics or unwearable clothing wherever possible that would have otherwise ended up in landfill. By giving these fabrics a new life, I create unique and limited-edition creations that are truly one-of-a-kind.
What is deadstock?
Basically anything that is surplus to requirements, that can no longer be used for its intended purpose or hasn't sold.
Deadstock fabric invariably ends up in landfill or worse incinerated. Waste fabric in landfill has a detrimental effect on the environment by creating methane gas & leaching toxic chemicals into the soil & groundwater.
GOOD NEWS! Companies can sell their surplus fabric to other companies to sell on. This means that the fabric is saved from landfill.
I feel strongly about the amount of fabric waste we have globally, therefore, I will always where possible buy deadstock fabric, saving it from landfill in turn helping save our planet.
Upcycling fabric is close to my heart & I intend to focus on this as I travel along this journey of mine!
Making small changes
When you shop at my little store, you're not just getting a fabulous product, you're also making a difference. I care about reducing waste, so don't be surprised if your parcel arrives wrapped in pre-loved packaging. It may not be brand new, but it's my way of doing our part to protect the planet. Plus, it adds a touch of charm and nostalgia to your unboxing experience!
